Teen Drug Abuse Declines

Teen drug abuse is declining for the first time in 2 decades.  Researchers at the University of Michigan found opioid and tobacco use in U.S. teenagers is lower than it's been since the 90s.  Experts believe one reason for the decline could be more teens are hanging out online and less in person, giving them fewer opportunities to share drugs.  A doctor with the National Institute on Drug Abuse says although cigarette use is down, electronic vaping is on the rise.  The latest survey found 10% of high school seniors used a vaping device and many did not know what they were smoking.

Experts worry teens may be vaping nicotine and not realize it.
