Britney Spears' 13-year conservatorship is put on blast in the upcoming Netflix documentary, Britney vs Spears.

On Wednesday (September 22), the streaming platform released the first full-length trailer for the film, which drops September 28 and chronicles the icon’s manipulative legal situation, which has seen her father, Jamie Spears, control all of her personal and professional decisions. In the 78-second preview, fans see viewers director Erin Lee Carr (How To Fix a Drug Scandal, Dirty Money) and journalist Jenny Eliscu dive deep into the "the tangled history of the conservatorship" as the star's powerful testimony plays atop performance clips.

"Britney vs Spears tells the explosive story of Britney’s life and her public and private search for freedom. Featuring years-long investigative work, exclusive interviews and new documents, this Netflix feature film paints a thorough portrait of the pop star’s trajectory from girl next door to a woman trapped by fame and family and her own legal status," the official synopsis reads. "It shows Britney's life without utilizing the traumatic images that have previously defined her."

As for the latest in the conservatorship case, Jamie filed a petition to end the arrangement in early September, but not before attempting to extort $2 million as a "quid pro quo" condition to remove himself. Spears has gone as far as deeming the conservatorship "abusive," detailing how it has prohibited her from access to her money, working against her will and even prohibiting her from having a baby. Earlier today, her lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, filed documents to terminate the conservatorship this fall without any further medical evaluation.
