Disney's Splash Mountain Is Being Turned Into a "Princess & the Frog" Ride

It's official: Disney is re-working Splash Mountain. They're ditching"Song of the South"and basing it on"The Princess and the Frog", the 2009 movie that introduced Disney's first black princess.

"Song of the South" came out in 1946, and it's racially troubling enough that Disney has never released it on home video in the U.S., and it's not available on Disney+ . . . although they did re-release it in theaters four times between 1956 and 1986.

The change has been in the works since last year, and Disney shared some concept art yesterday.

Disney says, quote, "The re-theming of Splash Mountain is of particular importance today.

"The new concept is inclusive . . . one that all of our guests can connect with and be inspired by, and it speaks to the diversity of the millions of people who visit our parks each year."
