Our news partner KCRG is reporting that local law enforcement officials say an alleged theft occurred at the Dicks Sporting Goods at 1st Avenue and Collins Road. It has been reported that the value of items was around $5,000 dollars. The getaway vehicle is being described as a black 2013 Ford Fusion, with Illinois plates and 3 female occupants. A vehicle matching the description was spotted by a Linn County Deputy near the intersection of Highway 13 and Cottage Grove Parkway. There were two attempts made to stop the vehicle, the second being at gunpoint after a collision near the intersection of Highway 30 and Cedar River Road. The car had struck a construction sign, yet the car was still managed to maneuver away from the deputy and continued east toward Mount Vernon and Lisbon. The chase was called off by both Linn County and Mount Vernon Law Enforcement after it reached speeds of 124 mph. Law Enforcement also cited the reckless nature of the driver as their reason to call of the chase. Cedar Rapids and Mount Vernon police will continue an investigation.
