We experienced a pretty interesting first in Eastern Iowa on Monday Afternoon. If you were out on the roads it was probably less interesting and instead a little stressful and a bit dangerous. For the first time ever, the National Weather Service issued a Snow Squall Warning for parts of Eastern Iowa. A Snow Squall is a thin burst of snow that comes with gusty winds. Like a mini blizzard, it can cause low visibility and at times even white outs. The Snow Squall Warning is a fairly new type of weather alert used by the National Weather Service. It was being tested last year but none were ever needed.
