Soooo we know the winter weather is coming. Most of Iowa will be under a Winter Storm Warning from 3p Friday afternoon, until Saturday night at 6p. Reports continue to come in, but the one thing that seems to be different is the snowfall amounts. The National Weather Service is reporting that the Des Moines Metro area could see between 6-8 inches, and areas in the Corridor between Cedar Rapids and Iowa City could see 8 to 12 inches. Yet, our news partner at KCRG-TV 9 is still reporting that snowfall totals in the Corridor will be around 3-6, with isolated areas seeing an additional 1-2 inches. Taht is because of the temperature, they feel the first several inches of precipitation will be in the form of rain, sleet and slush. Combined with yesterday's abnormally warm weather, it's easy to see why snowfall totals could be lower than what the National Weather Service is reporting. Nevertheless, this is NOT a storm to take likely. Weather you are in Des Moines or in the Corridor, your drive home is going to be hazardous. Travel between no and Saturday night is also going to be very tricky, and I would not recommend it. Stay safe out there! Hope you have the shovels and snowblowers ready lol.
