Wait, Did the Queen Just Shade Meghan Markle?!

Per royal tradition, Queen Elizabeth II has officially given consent for Prince Harry to marry fiancĂ©e Meghan Markle â€” but did she subtly shade the Suits actress whilst doing so?! The internet sure thinks so.

Here’s what happened:

It’s tradition for the Queen to give her consent to the first six people in line to the throne and Harry is currently fifth.

The Queen’s declaration on Thursday, March 15, read: "My Lords, I declare My Consent to a Contract of Matrimony between My Most Dearly Beloved Grandson Prince Henry Charles Albert David of Wales and Rachel Meghan Markle, which Consent I am causing to be signified under the Great Seal and to be entered in the Books of the Privy Council.”

The shade is seemingly with the simple “and Rachel Meghan Markle” because now-Duchess Kate Middleton got a much more praise-worthy shoutout when the Queen gave Prince William consent to marry "Our Trusty and Well-beloved Catherine Elizabeth Middleton.”

But -- not so fast. As pointed out by Hello magazine, the "trusty and well-behaved" was actually in the Instrument of Consent, which comes closer to the royal wedding day and will likely also feature a more personal note for Meghan as the day draws near.

Prince Harry and Meghan are set to tie the knot on May 19 and the former actress recently made her first official appearance alongside the Queen, 91, earlier this week.

As previously reported, the soon-to-be bride and groom have also decided to invite the public to their wedding — 2,640 commoners to be exact. In a statement, Kensington Palace explained that Harry and Meghan are "hugely grateful for the many good wishes they have received since announcing their engagement" and that “they are very much looking forward to the day and to being able to share their celebrations with the public."
